Welcome Message from the TC2.5 Chair 2023–2026

Welcome message from Constantino Lagoa, Chair of IFAC Technical Committee 2.5 on Robust Control, introducing the committee's work on robust control, uncertainty, and related conferences.

Beyond participating in the review process of the robust control area for the IFAC World Congress, we organize an IFAC Symposium on Robust Control Design (ROCOND) roughly a year after the IFAC Congress. The 10th IFAC Symposium on Robust Control Design was held in Kyoto Japan, September 21-24, 2021.    ROCOND’22 was the tenth event on the subject of robust control design. The previous meetings were held in Rio de Janeiro (1994), Budapest (1997), Prague (2000), Milan (2003), Toulouse (2006), Haifa (2009), Aalborg (2012) Bratislava (2015) and Florianopolis (2018). In 2009, the International Symposium on Quantitative Feedback Theory and Robust Frequency Domain Methods was integrated into ROCOND.  The last  ROCOND was held in Oporto, Portugal, July 2–4, 2025 in conjunction with the 6th IFAC Symposium on Linear Parameter Varying Systems.

In addition, we also put on a less formal workshop in conjunction with the IFAC Congress, the Roberto Tempo Workshop on Uncertain Dynamical Systems (WUDS) often immediately before or after the Congress. The last one was held in Kyoto, Japan 2023. The next one is being planned and will be held in summer of 2026.

Our membership list of more than 90 people. In the tab “Member List at the IFAC Affiliates Site” you can see the list of members that made their profile public.

Scope of TC2.5

TC 2.5 focuses on modeling and control of systems affected by uncertainty. Development of computational techniques for analysis and controller synthesis is among the most active areas of research.
