This issue of the IFAC Newsletter highlights the scopes of several Technical Committees within the Coordinating Committee on Industrial Applications and announces the launch of the IFAC Professional Briefs series. It honors the memory of IFAC's first President, Harold Chestnut, and introduces the 2002 winners of the Giorgio Quazza and Nathaniel B. Nichols Medals, Professor Lennart Ljung and Dr. Carl Nett.     • Date: September 2001
    • What it covers: Personal reflections on Harold Chestnut’s vision for IFAC and his long-standing dedication to creating a worldwide community of control system professionals.
  5. Recipient of Georgio Quazza Medal and Nathaniel B. Nichols Medal in 2002
    • What it covers: Announcement of Professor Lennart Ljung as the recipient of the 2002 Giorgio Quazza Medal and Dr. Carl Nett as the recipient of the 2002 Nathaniel B. Nichols Medal, along with background information on both awards and detailed biographies of the winners.
