Welcome Message from the TC6.4 Chair 2023–2026

The IFAC Technical Committee on Fault Detection, Supervision and Safety of Technical Processes (SAFEPROCESS) focuses on control system safety, including fault diagnosis, reliability analysis, fault-tolerant control, and predictive maintenance.

Welcome Message from the Chair

The IFAC Technical Committee (TC) on Fault Detection, Supervision and Safety of Technical Processes (SAFEPROCESS) was set at the end of the 1980’s by Professor Rolf Isermann in response to a rising need for a forum for control system safety: fault diagnosis, reliability analysis, fault tolerant control, predictive maintenance, etc. Such issues are still of uppermost importance as new challenges arise, such as the design of fault tolerant control systems over networks with a guaranteed degree of reliability and security. To achieve this goal, computer scientists, communication, control and reliability engineers (among others) must work together. By organizing the triennial SAFEPROCESS Symposia, as well as a series of invited and contributed sessions for the IFAC World Congresses, the SAFEPROCESS TC provides regular opportunities for meetings and exchanges of ideas between these different communities.
