The September 1979 issue of the IFAC Newsletter announces the 2nd IFAC/IFIP Symposium on Information Control Problems in Manufacturing Technology and the 3rd IFAC/IFIP Symposium Manufacont '80. It reports cancellations of previously announced meetings, publishes the revised list of IFAC approved symposia, conferences and co-sponsorships for 1979 to 1982, and lists non-IFAC activities.

The issue contains:

2nd IFAC/IFIP Symposium on Information Control Problems in Manufacturing Technology
Stuttgart, F.R.G. — 22–24 October 1979, with the five topics, the panel discussion session on the social effects of automation, and the symposium languages.

3rd IFAC/IFIP Symposium on Control Problems and Devices in Manufacturing Technology, Manufacont ’80
Budapest, Hungary — 22–25 October 1980, with the four topic areas, the language of the symposium and its connection to the earlier Tokyo symposium.

Cancellations
Notice that the IFAC/IFIP Conference in Shiraz, Iran has been cancelled, that a related symposium on “Systems Approach for Development” has been approved in Rabat for 23–26 November 1980, and that the IFAC/IFIP workshop on “Chemical Process Control” in Rabat has consequently also been cancelled.

The revised list approved by the IFAC Executive Council on 17 June 1979, covering events in 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1982 with their dates and places.

  • International Time Series Meeting — Guernsey, Channel Islands, 22–26 October 1979.
  • 8th IFIP World Computer Congress — Tokyo, Japan, 6–9 October 1980 and Melbourne, Australia, 14–17 October 1980, with the session types and programme areas.
